	Step 3: Develop your website
	We have gone through steps1 and 2 and made it through with flying colors. Ok, now for some hard decisions re your small business web hosting strategy. You can either decide to develop the website yourself or you can enlist the help of a web developer that understands search engine optimization. No, your browser isn't playing tricks on you; I really meant to make that font huge. On my first website I got a great guy who really understood coding techniques well but didn't think in terms of search engine optimization. The end result was a pretty slick looking website that very few people visited because the website wasn't built to be found; it was built to be looked at. I can't stress this enough; your small business web hosting strategy needs to start with the keywords that your customers will use to find you. Skip this step and you won't be found, pure and simple. If you're going to go it on your own, you can either start from scratch using a tool like Microsoft Frontpage (which is what I use) or you can use a website starter package which allows you to choose from a number of templates and build web pages without knowing HTML. What you need to decide is where you want to spend your time. If you don't mind playing around with this stuff then you might as well save a few bucks and go for it. If you'd prefer to be focusing on your business then you might enlist the help of someone else. I decided to do it myself and I am largely self-taught when it comes to HTML, but I have over 20 years experience in building and maintaining computer systems so the learning curve wasn't that great for me. Another thing I will recommend to you is taking advantage of Google AdSense. Google Adsense places non-obnoxious content-relevant ads on your website. If a visitor clicks on one of the ads, you collect cost-per-click (CPC) revenue. My web sites now pay for themselves because of my Google AdSense revenue. Also, consider getting an Amazon Associates account. You can put any product Amazon sells on your website and if a visitor purchases the product you get a referral fee. Lastly, regardless of who develops your website run it through http://www.keyworddensity.com/ . This is a great site to check your keyword density of any web page on your site. Shoot for a density ratio of 3-15%. Any lower and search engines won't think your site is about whatever keyword you are trying to optimize to. Much higher and search engines will think you are "keyword stuffing" and may penalize or ban your website. 	You should start your website promotion efforts by listing your site at the most popular Internet directories. Because they can send you substantial amounts of traffic and affect your ranking in various search engines, it is wise to make sure that your site is present in all of the major directories before doing anything else. There are lots of great submission tools out there but we suggest that you try out Search Engine Promotion Tools to submit your site. When promoting your website, be very wary not to use "Spamming" techniques that some sites employ to boost their website promotion efforts. Some of these are as follows: Visible text keyword stacking Use of unrelated keywords Use of invisible or unseen hyperlinks Extremely long Title or description tags. Duplication of Title or description tags Keyword stacking in "Alt Image" Tags Research shows that 85% of web traffic comes from search engines. Submit your website today and start getting traffic!
